25 Things To Do This Summer Besides Scrolling

Confession time: I can get sucked into the scroll of the phone or iPad. This summer I want to put a STOP to the scroll. By the end of the day, it’s easy to feel more drained than when you woke up when you spend your time scrolling.

I also have a free printable available when you sign up here. It's a printable Summer BINGO bucket list with 25 simple, screen-free ideas to fill your days instead of your feed. Print it off, tape it to your fridge, or tuck it into your journal. Cross off a square each time you choose real life over the scroll. It's a gentle way to be more present in this beautiful life the Lord has given you.

Here are 25 ideas on how to spend your time this summer instead of scrolling.

  1. Make a bookmark.

  6. Watch the sunrise and/or sunset.

  7. Bake a cake.

  8. Try a new coffee shop.

  19. Do a puzzle book like a word search puzzle or sudoku puzzle.

  20. Make a list of 10 things you’re thankful for.

Gratitude journaling is SO powerful. Scrolling on Instagram makes me discontent and jealous. The best way to combat discontentment? Being thankful for what the Lord has given you! Click here to get a summer gratitude and prayer journal.

  21. Go on a prayer walk.

  22. Have someone over for a meal.

  23. Listen to music.

  24. Cuddle with a loved one.

  25. Spend time in water: pool, lake, river or the ocean.

You can also look into the Brick device that can be super helpful for blocking you out of certain apps on your phone.

Another trick I love to do is around 8-8:30 pm I put my phone in airplane mode and turn the brightness all the way down and put the phone in another room. I am way less likely to scroll if it is out of sight and not bright! Also, it’s great to not have the blue light from your phone blasting your eyes before bed.

Here’s to spending the summer away from the phone and enjoying the beautiful life the Lord has blessed you with!
